A painter, curator, and art specialist, Yaghoub Emdadian is a founder of the modernist movement in the Middle East, and is one of the leaders of the contemporary art movement in Iran. The Middle East’s foremost abstract expressionist, Emdadian uses his canvases to emphasize the purity of form and colour as well as of vast space.
Emdadian is essentially a landscape painter, albeit not in its conventional sense. As a landscape painter, Emdadian has great affection for nature and depicts her forms and dimensions through his own special geometry. Emdadian’s relationship to nature can be traced back to his childhood years in the planes of suburban Tabriz, where open spaces enthralled him, be it farmlands, cornfields or arid land.
